Safe Neighborhoods Don’t Just Happen.

Update: Hello again to all the visitors from Instapundit and elsewhere. Please take a moment to sign up for our emails, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve beaten the servers into submission, so hopefully this is the last time that a link from Glenn brings my site to its knees.

Oh, and if you live in SW Florida or know someone who does, please consider our Refuse To Be A Victim Class

Thanks

I live in small, quiet bedroom community on the edge of the Everglades. I like it here. It’s affordable and peaceful and my family can walk to just about all the amenities we might ever need. Nothing ever happens here.

Well, almost nothing.

Four cars have have been stolen from our town in recent weeks, and many more have been broken into. That might seem like nothing to someone who lives in Detroit or South Philly, but it’s a BIG DEAL here. People in my town have the idea that because life is so freaking idyllic here, there is no way that the problems  of the world can creep in.

Well, those harsh realities have now arrived in my town. Now what? What concrete steps can the people of my small town take to secure their valuables, yet still live the pastoral lifestyle we’ve become accustomed to?

Well, as a wise man once said, we trust, but we verify. We take the steps now to make ourselves a harder target in order to make criminals move on to somewhere else. This is why I’m teaming up with Jeff and Robyn Street of Step By Step Gun Training to put on an NRA Refuse To Be Victim crime prevention seminar at Fellowship Baptist Church in Immokalee on Saturday, April 27th, from 11am to 5:30pm.

This short, inexpensive class teaches you the foundation of an effective personal defense strategy. Unlike other NRA courses, it is not a firearms training class, rather, it was created by leading personal safety trainers and experienced law enforcement officers as a way to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to make you and your family more safe, without sacrificing your peace of mind.

If you live in Naples, Ave Maria, Immokalee or anywhere else in Southwest Florida, I urge you to sign up today. The price is right (just $25) and in just a few hours, you’ll be empowered to charge of your personal security, and you learn how to refuse to be a victim of crime.

  1. Neighborhoods become safe when they have their own sheepdogs.
Know who lives there. Know who might be at risk because they are elderly, or alone, and then stay in touch with them.
Sheepdogs guard the flock against wolves, but they also help keep the flock in the right place; guide the lambs, the young ewes and rams by example and admonition.
Against the wolves, you might need some firearm training.
